Technology

TECHNOLOGY

Technology is an important teaching tool in the classrooms. We believe that students need to learn the skills to utilize technology to help them meet their academic goals. Digital Citizenship is an ongoing conversation with our students to help them understand how to use these tools safely, respectfully, and responsibly. Classrooms are equipped with short-throw interactive projectors, document cameras, and other technology supports.

GSuite (Google Apps)

Google Apps are used at Saint Raphael School to provide opportunities for students to collaborate, clarify their understanding, and communicate with their teachers. Students regularly use Google Classroom as well as Google Docs Sheets, and Slides to help empower their learning while gaining the technology skills necessary to be successful in today’s world.

Device Access

Students have 1:1 access to iPads in Kindergarten and 1st grade and Chromebooks in grades 2-8.  Access to these devices allows teachers to seamlessly integrate technology into all aspects of their classroom and to differentiate for individual student needs.

Curriculum Programs

Classes have access to a variety of curriculum programs specifically designed to meet individual academic needs. Some of these include Accelerated Reader, IXL, Lexia Core5 Reading, Raz-Kids, and Mathletics. Teachers are continuously learning about new websites, apps, and technology tools to help students’ succeed in their classrooms.

Kid Possible Program

Saint Raphael School offers a technology curriculum to students in K-8th grades. The program, through Kid Possible STEM, helps students learn technology skills along with creativity and innovation with hands-on experiments and activities.

Kid Possible STEM Program

The Kid Possible K-8 STEM program integrates STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) into our technology program and enriches our students’ educational experience at SRS. Our STEM program is a comprehensive approach that goes beyond coding. Students will engage in hands-on experiments, activities and projects fostering creativity and innovation in learning more about photography, video production, creating digital portfolios and storytelling, and 3D design and printing. We will emphasize and focus on problem-solving, ingenuity, and the engineering design process through experiments and challenges such as building simple circuits, mazes, bridges, and robots. We’re looking forward to our students jumping right in and getting their hands dirty while they collaborate, explore, and learn.
